Seville – a melting pot of history and culture

In German, we have the saying: “Wer die Wahl hat, hat die Qual“, which can be translated to either: the bigger the choice, the harder it is to choose. Or, literally translated: Whoever has (the) choice has (the) torment.

Lost in Seville: Paper map vs GPS??

After being dropped by our hotel shuttle, we walked down the streets of Seville to the Cathedral and the Alcazar of Seville, both UNESCO heritage sites. For a short while we got lost and between the arguments of a paper vs GPS map, ultimately found our way back, discovering a few beautiful arches in the city as well.

In this photo challenge post, I will present to you the arches, we came across in Seville city, the Cathedral (exterior) and Torre del Oro, the symbol of Seville. The next post will show you the most artfully and intricately designed arches of the Alcazar of Seville.

The Torre del Oro (Tower of Gold) is a historic watchtower that was built in the early 13th century by the Almohades, who ruled over Andalusia. The tower is now home to a naval museum.

The arena, which has a seating capacity of about 12,500 is one of the most famous bullrings in all of Spain. We did not go inside the arena – neither in Madrid nor in Ronda.
